Join Our Volunteer Team

Are you interested in making a difference in your community? One of the best places to volunteer may be right around the corner; at your local animal shelter.  At the Humane Society of Sedona, our volunteers are the key to our success. The generous gift of time and labor donated to us by our volunteers helps support our organization and allows us to save the lives of cats and dogs each and every year. Whether you walk dogs, assist with administrative duties or aid with an adoption event, you can make a huge difference in the lives of the animals in our care. We have so many opportunities for volunteers to aid us in our mission. You choose which opportunity would work best for you!

Below is a list of amazing opportunities available to volunteers at the Humane Society of Sedona.

Volunteer Opportunities:

  • Dog Socialization
  • Cat Socialization
  • Animal Care
  • PetSmart® Feline Center
  • Clerical & Administrative help
  • Adoption Events
  • Thrift Store (Paw Prints West & Paw Prints VOC)
  • Foster Care
  • Kids & Kritters Summer Camp Counselor
  • Laundry & Kitchen Duties

The Humane Society of Sedona also features an enrichment program where volunteers are welcomed to participate in a variety of activities supporting the mental and emotional stability of our shelter animals. The time volunteers spend with the animals helps to build close bonds and enhance that animal’s chance at finding that perfect forever home. Enrichment activities include reading time, bubble play, puzzles, aromatherapy, calming music and much more!

Volunteer Requirements:
• Each shelter (excluding Thrift Store) volunteer must attend a general orientation and training prior to, but not more than 30 days in advance of, beginning your volunteer work. These are held monthly at the shelter.
• We ask that you are able to make a minimum 6 month commitment to volunteering, although we are willing to work with volunteers who have less availability for some volunteer commitments.
• We recommend participants of the animal care center volunteer program have their own health insurance coverage; worker’s compensation coverage does not apply to volunteers.
• • Minors must be a minimum of 13 years old to volunteer. Minors 13 – 15 years old must be accompanied by a trained parent or guardian at all times and can only assist in designated areas. Adults 16 years and older may volunteer independently after attending the required volunteer orientation sessions.
